Education in Home Buying
​and Mortgage

Purchasing a home can be one of the most stressful experiences a family can go through. Many Veterans do not know how to use their VA loan benefit. Many Veterans have been taken advantage of in the past by predatory lending. Our instructors are here to assist Veterans in this process, look out for predatory lending, and ease the tensions by giving the Veteran the power of knowledge to make the right decisions. Intel is everything in this process, and we are here to give it to you.

Obtaining Your COE

Each Veteran that has served our country is eligible for a generic approval of $150,000.00 towards a purchase of a home.  In saying that, each Veteran must show a Certificate of Eligibility in order to be eligible for a VA Loan. We can assist and obtain that certificate for you in a 24 hour period from the VA.  You can also obtain it yourself by visiting www.ebenefits.gov.  

Determining What You
​Qualify For

​Each Veteran, as long as they served more than 90 days and were not dishonorably discharged, will qualify for at least $150,000 as a generic approval. This also can change in upwards to $630,000. Depending on certain factors: example, County, Credit, Ability to Repay, Disability, and more. Our volunteers will determine what your personal situation is and how much you qualify for using all of your personal factors. This will show you how much "Purchase Power" you have in the housing marketplace. 

Credit Analysis and Repair

It is our goal to assist each Veteran with Credit Repair. The better your credit, the better your ability to achieve a fair interest rate in all big purchases in your life. We can assist you in knowing your score and raising your score before you make any life long purchases, so you can achieve the best possible value in your monthly payments. We will call the credit agencies and be an advocate for you in getting disputes removed.  Or goal is to have you paying more principal and less interest.

Advocacy and Grants

When buying a home, there is often expenses that fall outside of the VA loan benefit that you have earned and obtained.  There are charges called, "Consideration" and "Closing Costs" that come along with the process with any loan. When opening escrow, a "consideration fee" is required. Without the consideration fee, you cannot open and escrow account, and therefore there is no loan.  We know not all Veterans have thousands of dollars in extra money to take care of these fees. Veterans helping Veterans goal is to apply for grants to assist Veterans with these fees.
​We also assist in helping with the "Closing Costs" of your loan. 

Disability Claim Education

This class is taught by Veterans to assist those in need in filling out disability forms. This can assist you to get your disability claim to the percentage you deserve. Classes help with understanding to communicate with the VA, gathering the supporting documents needed, including your DD214, service and private medical records and  buddy statements. This will enable you to initiate or update your claim. Veterans Helping Veterans holds 2 classes a month in our classroom in Los Angeles CA or we can travel to do presentations statewide. Building Financial Wealth While Enlisted Courses

These courses and workshops are designed for Active Duty Spouses to attend and show how to to build wealth while our men and women are still in active duty. This is another way to cure Veteran homelessness before it occurs.  This course educates you on the benefits already available to you while serving, and can plot a financial plan to ensure success by using the programs and benefits that are available to you and your family.
